Bio

My musical life began in elementary school with accordion lessons. Gave that up in high school. Tried to teach myself some guitar in University. Gave that up after a few months. Bought a saxophone and took lessons. Gave that up after 2 years. Then nothing for nearly a decade.

In 2006, I started playing around with computer music software. I found KVRaudio, and started entering their monthly contests. It provided a creative outlet which I find very satisfying.

These days, I write songs and instrumentals, program and sequence software synthesizers, play ukulele, sing, and produce music in my home. I don't have a single genre to which I stick; I write and play whatever occurs to me. Most frequently, that ends up sounding like folk-pop, electropop, or electronica.

Gear

I'm currently using a Dell Studio 15 laptop (Core 2 Duo 2.53GHz processor, 4 gigs RAM, Windows Vista) with FL Studio as my virtual mixer/sequencer. I have a Korg K25 midi controller for playing software synthesizers.

I use a variety of synths and effects, but my favourite are: U-he's Zebra 2, U-he ACE, Rayzoon's Jamstix 2, microtonic, Filterscape, the Uhbik effects suite, Audio Damage's Fluid, AD Liquid, AD Kombinat, and Ohmicide.

The Zoom H2 handy recorder does most of my recording jobs.

A Flea soprano ukulele (with Aquila Nylgut strings) is my primary acoustic instrument. I also play Mountain Ocarinas (C and G), a Suzuki Melodeon (aka a melodica), a djembe, tambourine, shaker, and occasional other small items.
